New Year, New Auction

BiddingForGood New AuctionsHappy 2012 everybody! I'm sure everyone is working on their New Year's resolutions for this year. Flossing and eating healthier are again at the top of my list, but who knows how that will work out this year.

2012 means a new year to improve upon your fundraising auction. With BiddingForGood, there are many opportunities and possibilities to help raise additional funds. As one of the experts in the fundraising world states, the past few years have not been easy for the non-profit world, but there are many things to turn this trend around. If this is your first online auction or your 10th, this needs to be a Super Bowl winning performance! (Go Patriots!)

The first thing I want to see this year is getting your own volunteers behind your auction. Of course they are volunteers and everyone has a lot going on, but if the people supporting, building, and promoting your auction are not fully engaged, the auction might fall flat. Make them excited. Have contests with your volunteers to see who can get the most email addresses in a week, or the person who uses social media the most will receive a gift card. Keeping your volunteers engaged will make the auction much more successful.

Another thing to think about is our new mobile platform. Whether you have an in-room event or not, mobile will change your auction. If you are at the grocery store, in line at the dry cleaners, or just on your couch and are too lazy to go to your desk, you can BID! This will increase the amount of bids. So, what do fundraisers do? PROMOTE! TWEET! STATUS UPDATE! EMAIL! Anything physically possible you can do to get this to the most amount of people will make your auction increase in revenue.

These are just two things to think about. But hey, it's only Friday the 13th, so more ideas to come... Have a good holiday weekend!
