Ode to Moms -Give to the moms who give so much
“Mommy, Ashton hit me!”
“Mommy, I went potty; on the stairs.”
“Mommy, I don’t want that food.”
Sometimes my days and nights are filled with “Mommy, do this” and “Mommy, do that.” I have often joked that I am the humble servant to my adorable 1 and 3 year old. Just read any of the thousands of mommy blogger sites and you will see that “us” moms can be in the trenches. Strangely enough, we find comfort in the fact that we are not alone.
Which leads me to Mother’s Day. Most of us have celebrated this holiday by giving thanks to our moms for everything they do as a maid, oops, I mean a mom. Accordingly to Wikipedia.com, “Mother's Day is a celebration honoring mothers and celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society.”
The reason why we are talking about Mother’s Day at BiddingForGood is because there are a ton of great items are up for bid to gift for the holiday. If my kids could read, this is what would be on my BiddingForGood wish list: A Trip to Napa Valley or a Mother’s Day brunch at the Four Season’s Hotel. And we all know I couldn’t go to Napa without a pair of new Gucci sunglasses. As I have scoured the BiddingForGood site, I have come across travel deals, dining and spa gift certificates and a ton of unique experiences. There is certainly something for every mother out there. What mom wouldn't love to receive a gift that gives back?
So, as I throw in the 6th load of laundry and wipe the throw up off my shoulder, my 3 year old spontaneously wraps his arms around my leg me and says, “Mommy, I 'wub' you."
I know that these words are all I really need... and the Tiffany necklace. With my heart melted and a tear in my eye, I respond, “I love you too sweetie.”
Wishing all you mothers out there many years of warm hearts and joyful tears.
